JCL had the honour in welcoming Mr Markus Akermann, CEO of Holcim Group, Mr Paul Hugentobler, Member of Executive Committee (South Asia and ASEAN* ) and Mr Gerard Letellier, Area Manager (South Asia and ASEAN*) in visiting the manufacturing plant on 29 June 2009. This is Mr Akermann’s first visit to JCL’s plant since Holcim took the major share in 2007.

Holcim is one of the largest cement manufacturer in the world, originating from Switzerland in 1912. It has grown globally with market presence in over 70 countries on all continents. Holcim’s core businesses include the manufacture and distribution of cement, and the production, processing and distribution of aggregates (crushed stone, gravel and sand), ready-mix concrete and asphalt. The company also offers consulting, research, trading, engineering and other services. Employing 85,000 staff worldwide, Holcim recorded sales of over 25 billion Swiss francs in 2008.

The top management of Holcim sees great opportunities with the Singapore government's push for sustainable construction and Holcim's leading role among the cement and readymix players globally in this field. With Holcim’s absolute commitment to Singapore in the long run, JCL will persist in playing an aggressive role in the Readymix business and elevate our position in the Drymix segment another step further and beyond.
