For almost a decade after the opening of Universal Studios Japan, a new theme park, that will occupy approximately 20 hectares of land, located at the northern part of Sentosa, adjacent to Vivo City, Universal Studios Singapore® will soon make its debut at soft launch in early 2010.

Universal Studios Singapore® is one of the core components of Genting's successful bid to build Singapore's second licensed Integrated Resort (IR), which is now known as the Resorts World Sentosa or RWS. The whole project valued at S$6.59 billion, with the infrastructural work alone of S$705 million that was awarded to China Jinye Engineering Corporation (Singapore branch), a subsidiary of Chinese government-linked group - Metallurgical Corporation (MCC). The group is one of China's top five construction-engineering companies that was involved in the structural design, consultation and project management of renowned landmarks such as the Beijing Olympic 'Bird's Nest' stadium, the new Beijing Opera House and the China Central Television (CCTV) headquarters.
